With the NBA Trade Deadline just days away, we get our first action. The Oklahoma City Thunder have agreed to trade Trevor Ariza to the Miami Heat for Meyers Leonard and a 2027 second-round pick.

Leonard is waiving his no-trade clause to allow the Heat to trade him and will be eventually bought out by the Thunder. The main piece of this trade is Ariza. He hasn’t done much this season, only averaging six points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists a game, but we know the potential he has. Ariza is a lockdown defender that can certainly help a contending Heat team. The Heat are currently in fourth place in the Eastern Conference with a 22-18 record.

This is a small trade and the first trade in what should be a very entertaining trade deadline.
