Over the last few years, many stories have broken out about Tom Brady and his relationships with Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft beginning to falter.
Today, NFL writer Gary Myers reported the quarterback’s “deteriorating relationship with offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels” has been an overlooked observation in realizing why Brady left New England.
They made seem they were brothers fighting after sideline blowups. Worse than that. Brady also wanted more input into game plan. Also, he knew it was final season in NE & said when he didn't trust WRs, didn't throw to them. Bad look. Pats lacked reliable WR other than Edelman.

With that being said, there are other reasons why Brady left. New England reportedly offered the 42-year-old a one-year deal due to salary cap issues. Brady had sacrificed over $60 million throughout his career with the Patriots to field the best team possible. The one-year deal offered to Brady for less than the $23 million his contract was worth in his final year was a low-ball move that may have solidified the miscommunications between Belichick and Brady. Brady felt he deserved his fair share in a contract and was at least hoping for a two-year, $50 million deal.
Along with that, Brady had been with the team for 20 years and has seen many things change, including his weapons. He wanted the Patriots to acquire more talent and build around him. Though the Patriots acquired a wide receiver in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft in N’Keal Harry, Brady did not have enough trust in the rookie.
Taking a look back, Brady has explicitly said he wouldn’t throw to any wideout he did not trust. When narrowing the list of receivers he trusted, only one name survived: Julain Edelman.
According to today’s report, Brady “wanted more input into gameplan” which caused a feud between him and McDaniels.
As one of the greatest quarterbacks to play, Brady believed he should have had more say in the offense. McDaniels seemed to have different opinions as both of them have been seen frustrated with each other on multiple occasions. The most notable was on Dec. 3, 2017, in a game against the Buffalo Bills. Brady had thrown behind Brandin Cooks on a third-down play that ended the drive.
McDaniels had approached Brady immediately about the missed throw which ignited Brady’s anger as he screamed at McDaniels while being held back by staff. Brady apologized about the confrontation after the game, but now reminiscing on the incident, could that have triggered the beginning of the end?
While we do not know the full story regarding what prompted Tom Brady to leave the New England Patriots, Myers, who had also written a book on the rivalry about Brady and Peyton Manning, has shed some light on an overlooked factor to what drove the future Hall of Famer and former Patriots legend away.
