New England Patriots running back Rex Burkhead who is due to have a huge role this coming season with the departure of Dion Lewis, reportedly has a slight tear in his knee.
The Athletic’s Jeff Howe tweeted the reassuring news however that the injury itself is minor and something the running back can play through.
More clarity: Burkhead is dealing with a slight tear in his knee, but it’s been deemed a minor injury and something he’ll be able to play through. Since it’s the preseason, maintenance takes the priority over everything else.

Burkhead dealt with a patella sprain which kept him sidelined four games last season but this injury has nothing to do with that past ailment.
The Patriots take on the Carolina Panthers in their third preseason game next Friday at 7:30 p.m. EST.
