The Washington Redskins are going with experience over youth.

The team announced that they will be starting Colt McCoy for Sunday’s matchup against the Patriots.

JP Finlay of NBCS, tweeted the news that broke just minutes ago.

Finlay also stated that Redskins head coach Jay Gruden knows who will back up the Texas alum.

McCoy, 33, has been with the Redskins since 2014 playing primarily as a backup to Robert Griffin III. and Kirk Cousins in his time in Washington.

The Redskins added Case Keenum and drafted Dwayne Haskins in the first-round of this year’s draft to try and soften the blow of losing journeyman Alex Smith last season.

The winless Redskins take on the undefeated Patriots Sunday at 1 p.m.
