Following a 10-5 loss to the New York Yankees, the Boston Red Sox announced that they have relieved Dave Dombrowski of his duties as President of Baseball Operations.
After taking over in August of 2015, the Red Sox have won three division titles, including one World Series –– but after the loss tonight dropped their magic number to be eliminated to 12, the Red Sox simply needed to find a “fall guy” for their failures.
It was reported months ago that this would likely be Dombrowski’s last season calling the shots for the Red Sox, however it seemed increasingly unlikely as the team improved their play in mid-July.
The Red Sox have just three-and-a-half weeks left in the season, but they’ll move forward without their President of Baseball Operations.

Every GM in MLB would love to have had the “budgets” Dombrowski has had with his last two owners. Unfortunately, he left Detroit a train wreck.
Without a doubt a surprise I the timing of his firing but it really was inevitable…a few really bad calls on his part sealed the deal.
Basicslly the same team as last year, minus Kimbrell…what happened?? Alex Cora’s attitude toward the USA spawning unappreciation of the awesome jobs they have?? Lack of preparation and acquisitiom of quality bullpen? Injured and/ or ineffectiveness of starting pitchers?
