Just when it seemed like the injury bug had stopped biting the Patriots, it comes back and takes one of the most vital players on the team.
Julian Edelman is being held out of practice today for load management purposes, per source. Injuries have piled up this season.

While his availability for Sunday’s game against the Bengals isn’t in question as of yet, it’s still worrisome to see the receiver miss practice with all the nagging injuries he’s had this year.
Edelman produced pretty well against the Chiefs last weekend, but you could tell that his leg was still bothering him, as you can see here.
Rewatched KCvsNE, noticed Edelman limping and favoring his left foot during the 4th Q. Performance dipped. Hope it’s nothing, but he had surgeries for a fracture of that foot in 2015/16. Good-ish news: he had a right foot issue late last season and was Super Bowl MVP. pic.twitter.com/xwKSdJuWKy

It is going to take a lot more than a few minor injuries to keep Edelman out, but still, at this point in the year you’d like to have your players trending in the right direction when it comes to help.
This could be nothing right now, but it could also grow into something if the proper precautions aren’t taken.
So taking a page out of Kawhi Leonard’s playbook and giving Edelman some much needed load management seems like the right move here.
