Report: Raiders Release Antonio Brown

Everyone had to have seen this coming, right?

It was the only way to end this ongoing saga between Brown and the Raiders that’s been stewing ever since the All-Pro receiver got frostbite.

Regardless, the man who made Raiders fans believe they had a chance to make the playoffs this season only lasted 181 days in the Black & Gray.

Brown played in exactly zero games, but created a ton of drama in the past week that would’ve been perfect had Hard Knocks not ended for this season.

It all started with frostbite. Then moved towards his ongoing helmet issue with the NFL. Then he posted a letter from Mayock, informing Brown he was being fined for conduct detrimental to the team, which was then followed by his shouting match with GM Mike Mayock that caused Vontaze Burfict of all people to be the peacemaker.

Everyone thought the mess was over when AB issued an emotional apology to his teammates before practice on Friday.

However, that wasn’t it. Last night, the wide receiver posted on video on YouTube of a conversation between he and Jon Gruden over the phone.

You can clearly hear the change in Gruden’s tone as the conversation drew on.

However, after waking up to the news that Brown was demanding to be released, Mayock decided it was no longer worth the drama –– and took Brown up on his demands, voiding all of his contract guarantees. Brown will walk away from $30 million guaranteed and become a Free Agent just a day before the rest of the NFL gets underway.

What’s next for Brown? A lot of people have pegged the Patriots as potential suitors for the sure-fire Hall of Fame wideout. All we know is, this isn’t the last we’ll see of AB in the news this season.
