The New England Patriots are going to be shorthanded at running back as it has been announced that they have released Kenjon Barner ahead of tonight’s matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.
The moves leaves only two listed running backs on the roster in Sony Michel and James White.
Boston Globe reporter Ben Volin confirmed the news just minutes ago.
Patriots officially release RB Kenjon Barner to make room for Julian Edelman. Patriots only have two RBs tonight, James White and Sony Michel. Cordarrelle Patterson and James Develin can also take handoffs if necessary

Barner is the odd man out as the team needed to release a player to make room for wide receiver Julian Edelman on the 53-man roster.
The Patriots take on the Colts in another edition of Thursday Night Football at 8:20 p.m.
