Report: Patriots Not Expected to Re-Sign Lineman Ahead of Free Agency

The New England Patriots will likely be in a bidding war for one of their best offensive lineman.

Per Matt Verderame of Fansided, the team is not expected to hand out a contract to guard Joe Thuney ahead of free agency.

Thuney, 27, was selected by the Patriots in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft. In his first season, the NC State alum was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.

He was named a Second-Team All-Pro for the first time in his career in 2019 and has won two Super Bowls as a member of the Patriots.

Thuney is thought of as one of the best guards the National Football League has to offer and is expected to fetch a high price on the free agent market.
