The New England Patriots immediately answered the question of replacing Danny Amendola by making the trade for wide receiver/special teamer Cordarrelle Patterson and sixth round pick while giving the Oakland Raiders a fifth round selection.

Pardon My Take broke the news just a half hour ago on their Twitter account.

Patterson was taken with selection No.29 overall in the 2013 NFL Draft in which the Patriots had but traded away to the Vikings. He struggled to make a name for himself at wide receiver but has improved in that aspect as his career has gone on.

Patterson has prided himself as being one of the best special teams players in the National Football League as he has accumulated numerous accolades for his returning skills which include.

He also holds numerous Vikings franchise records which include the following.

  • Longest rushing touchdown by a wide receiver: 67 yards (September 7, 2014)[33]
  • Most kickoff return yards in a season: 1,393 (2013)
  • Most kickoff return yards in a season by a rookie: 1,393 (2013)
  • Highest kick return average in a season: 32.4 (2013)
  • Highest kick return average in a career: 29.6 (2013–present)
  • Most kickoff return touchdowns in a season: 2 (2013) (tied with Percy Harvin)[34]

  • Most games with 100 kick return yards: 13
  • Most kick return yards by a Viking: 4,040

Patterson is a solid receiver who can turn the ball up field on an end around and run the ball for rushing yards which he has done a great job with amassing six touchdowns and over 10 yards per carry.

  • Brandin Cooks
  • Chris Hogan
