Report: Patriots Make Final Decision With Mitchell; Cornerback Put on IR

In another disappointing loss for the team, the New England Patriots confirmed that Malcolm Mitchell will not be returning this season and has been put on injured reserve.

Mitchell (24), has been battling a knee injury the entire season and while he did practice with the team, he was still not able to get the knee in the shape it had to be in to play.

The Patriots have not used any of their two short term-injured reserve designations this season with both of their possible candidates linebacker Shea McClellin and Mitchell not being healthy enough to get back in the fold.

Cornerback Jonathan Jones was also injured reserve effectively ending his season. Jones (24), saw 41 percent of snaps on defense and 64 percent of snaps on special teams. His spot was taken by wide receiver Bernard Reedy who has an abundance of experience returning punts.
