Report: Patriots Down 3 Starters for Sunday Night Football

The New England Patriots are going to be quite thin on defense as the team reportedly made the trip without three of its defensive starters.

The New England Patriots tweeted the news on their official account.

Trey Flowers and Patrick Chung both sustained concussions in last week’s loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars while Eric Rowe is out with a groin injury.

Rowe was considered by many after last week to be a weak link to the secondary as the unit saw improvement when Jason McCourty entered to take his place. The absence of Chung elevates Duron Harmon to the starting strong safety with Derek Rivers finally getting his shot with Flowers inactive.

On the offensive side of the ball, it has been confirmed that All-Pro right tackle Marcus Cannon has indeed made the trip and will most likely play in their matchup against the Detroit Lions.

Tight end Jacob Hollister has been ruled out with a chest injury while his compatriot tight end Rob Gronkowski was taken off the injury report and is said to be good to go.
