A mainstay in the New England Patriots defense is likely finishing out his career where it started.

Per reports, safety Patrick Chung and the team have reportedly agreed to a contract extension.

The deal also clears up $925,000 for the Patriots in cap space this season.

Chung, 32, was drafted in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft. His first stint with the team was far from spectacular with the Oregon alum hampered by injuries and coverage deficiencies that led to him signing with the Philadelphia Eagles.

When he returned to the Patriots, it was almost like a light switch went off.

Chung has gone on to win three Super Bowls with the Patriots and was named to the squad’s 2010’s All-Decade Team.

Chung will reportedly get an extra $1.6 million this season and a total of $5 million for 2020. Next year, he is due $2.4 million.
