The New England Patriots have suffered a huge blow to their offensive line.
Per reports, left tackle Isaiah Wynn is being placed on short-term injured reserved as a result of an injury sustained against the Dolphins.
Wynn, 22, was drafted by the Patriots with pick No.23 in the 2018 NFL Draft. His rookie season came to an abrupt halt when he tore his achilles last preseason.
With the departure of Trent Brown to the Oakland Raiders, Wynn was set to slide in to protect Tom Brady’s blindside for the foreseeable future.
His placement on injured reserve means the lineman cannot return to the Patriots until week 11.
He is the second player to be placed on short-term IR after rookie N’Keal Harry who is eligible to return in week 9.
The Patriots will now have to turn to newly-signed tackle Marshall Newhouse or other recently acquired lineman in Jake Eluemunor, Korey Cunningham and Caleb Benenoch to hold down the fort.
