The most sought-after free agent this summer finally has a deal in place.
Edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney is signing with the Tennessee Titans, according to a report from ESPN’s Dianna Russini.
Jadeveon Clowney is expected to sign with the Tennessee Titans sources tell ESPN. He rejoins Mike Vrabel who was on the Texans defensive staff for Clowney’s first 3 years in the league in Houston. The Saints, the other main suitor, made a very strong case. This was a close one.

Many teams were rumored to be in on the Clowney Sweepstakes since free agency started, with the Titans being the one constant all along. However, talks had been fairly quiet since early July.
As late as Saturday afternoon, reports suggested the Titans and New Orleans Saints were the two teams making final pushes for the 27-year-old, three-time Pro Bowler. The Jacksonville Jaguars also emerged as a late suitor. Both the Titans and Saints wanted to get a deal done quickly so they can get Clowney on the practice field on Monday. With the Titans playing on the road in Denver in the Monday Night Football doubleheader nightcap in Week 1, Clowney could see extended playing time with a few practices under his belt.
This move all but changes the complexion of the entire defense. The area that the unit struggled with last season was the pass rush. The team also added former Falcons linebacker Vic Beasley during free agency to address that need. The addition of Clowney along with the pair of young linebackers, Harold Landry and Rashaan Evans, makes this an upper-tier defense.
If Titans fans were already excited for the season to get underway, they are ecstatic now. The team met all of their offseason goals. They re-signed both quarterback Ryan Tannehill and running back Derrick Henry. And now, they land arguably the best free agent on the market.
Clowney played for Mike Vrabel before when Vrabel was a part of the defensive coaching staff with the Texans, for whom Clowney played his first three NFL seasons.
