The New England Patriots are dealing with problems regarding injuries and a big game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and reportedly there’s another one brewing.
According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, quarterback Tom Brady’s personal trainer Alex Guerrero who traditionally accompanies the team to facilitate his client on the sideline, has not been allowed on the sideline the past few outings which may be due to a strained relationship between he and head coach Bill Belichick.
“I’ve heard whispers about that sort of thing, as well. There’s some sort of issue,” Schefter said to WEEI. “I truly do not know the extent of it. I don’t know how long it has been brewing or the history of it. Clearly, there’s something there, but I don’t know what to make of it, to be honest with you.”
Guerrero though not officially employed by the team, he has not only worked with Brady, but also receivers Julian Edelman and Chris Hogan.
Belichick told USA Today when asked that he was well aware about Guerrero working with his players and stressed that he’s not part of his staff.
“He works with some of our players,” Belichick said to USA Today. “I think that’s pretty well documented. He’s not on our staff.”
Even though Schefter claims that it isn’t the first time he’s heard issues regarding this situation, he reassuringly stated that it may be a longstanding issue, but could be just a phase.
“I think it is a good relationship,” Schefter said. “I don’t think that is an issue. Listen, there have been some dynamics this year — the Alex Guerrero one, the Jimmy Garoppolo one. Every relationship goes through different phases, ons and offs and ups and downs. Honestly, I don’t know where they are at today.
