Report: Dodgers, Mookie Betts Nearing Extension

The Los Angeles Dodgers and their big offseason acquisition are closing in on a long term contract extension.

Mookie Betts and the Dodgers are closing in on an extension for more than 10 years in the $350 million to $400 million range, according to Lou Merloni of WEEI.

Betts was traded to the Dodgers along with pitcher David Price from the Boston Red Sox in a somewhat surprising move. Price has since decided to opt out of the shortened season which finally gets underway this week.

Betts was likely to be heavily pursed at season’s end if he hit the free agent market.

A 10-year deal would likely guarantee Betts’s MLB career will end in Los Angeles.
