Report: Clowney Sweepstakes Down to 3 Teams

One of the biggest free agents on the defensive side of the ball is still on the board, but he could have a new home soon.

Jadeveon Clowney has reportedly cut his list of landing spots to three teams.

Seattle Seahawks
Clowney thrived in Pete Carroll’s defense last season, his first in Seattle. He proved himself despite people doubting his “team mentality” as he pushed through an injury that would have sidelined other players. The familiarity in the Seahawks’ system gives them the edge if the monetary figures are close between these three teams.

New York Jets
One of the top priorities of many for this team is a consistent pass rush unit. Clowney would drastically improve that need for Gang Green the second he signs the contract. He would also be a fun guy for the New York media, as he has never been known to sugarcoat his words.

Tennessee Titans
Could this have been their plan all along? The Titans have already signed former Falcons linebacker Vic Beasley, addressing their need for a pass-rusher. They traded five-time Pro Bowl defensive end Jurrell Casey to the Broncos for a seventh-round pick in a somewhat shocking move but freed up of $10 million in cap space by doing so. They have had the advantage of seeing Clowney often when he was a member of their division rival, the Texans, and signing him would definitely lighten the blow of the Casey deal for Titans fans.

Whichever team adds Clowney would instantly improve their team’s pass rush unit dramatically.
