Report: Browns Acquire Ronnie Harrison from Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars are continuing to sell the majority of their star players. The Jaguars already traded Yannick Ngakoue to Minnesota, released Leonard Fournette, and have now traded Ronnie Harrison to the Browns.

This news seemingly came out of nowhere and only took an hour after the original rumblings started.

For Jacksonville, this reaffirms the case that they are seemingly punting on this season. Jacksonville has gotten rid of three of their best players in only a week. The fact they only got a fifth-round pick for Harrison is awful. In his two years in the league, Harrison has 103 tackles, 12 pass deflections, three sacks, and three interceptions. He only allowed a 55 percent completion rate when targeted and one touchdown last year. For Jacksonville, this move makes no sense for a secondary that was already in shambles. Jarrod Wilson is the starting free safety and there will be a competition at the starting strong safety spot between Andrew Wingard, Josh Jones, Daniel Thomas, and J.R. Reed. Jones will most likely get the first crack at being the starter after being a second-round bust for Green Bay.

For Cleveland, this move is outstanding. The Browns lost Grant Delpit to a season-ending injury late in August, leaving them with Karl Joseph and Andrew Sendejo as their starters. Sending a fifth-round pick for a starting safety that still has a lot of time to develop on a cheap contract is a great move for Cleveland. Cleveland took advantage of a miserable Jacksonville front office.

This move indicates that Jacksonville is tanking. Cutting your starting running back, and trading your starting free safety and top edge rusher in the matter of a week isn’t a move teams who want to win make. The Jaguars somehow only got back a second-round pick and two fifth-round picks in those moves. Whoever the new general manager and head coach in Jacksonville next year is loaded up on draft picks with five in the first three rounds. DJ Chark and Myles Jack should keep their head on a swivel the next few days as no one seems to be safe.
