Early Wednesday morning, patrol officers on Venice Beach were notified of a body washed ashore that matched descriptions of a missing person.
39-year old Shad Gaspard went missing Sunday morning after going swimming with his 10-year old son. Strong currents and riptides were cited to have pulled the two and surrounding swimmers into the water.

Reportedly, Gaspard directed lifeguards and rescue crews to save his son first in an act of heroism. Waves crashed and submerged Gaspard, sweeping him out and prompting a search investigation that was called off on Tuesday.
Gaspard is remembered for being one-half of the “Cryme Time Players” with Jayson Paul, known as JTG. Gaspard competed against the likes of Chris Jericho, The Miz, and The Big Show.
His final pay-per view match came at Extreme Rules in 2010 in a Strap match against his former partner in JTG. Gaspard retired from WWE that same year.
