Red Sox Starter to Miss 6 Months

Eduardo Rodriguez was one of two members of the Boston Red Sox to be operated on by Dr. James Andrews in Pensacola, FL. today. Rodriguez underwent a patellofemoral ligament reconstruction surgery in his right knee.

Rodriguez was taken out of action at the start of June after he tweaked his knee while warming up prior to a game against the Baltimore Orioles. That displaced him from contention until mid-July.

The Venezuelan left-hander started in 24 of his 25 total games played. He mounted a 6-7 record with 4.19 ERA, a 1.282 WHIP, and 150 strikeouts.

This operation is expected to have a six month recovery period. It is presumable that he will have little-to-no Spring Training ahead of the new season.

Rotation depth is not yet in hot water as David Price and Steven Wright are anticipated to return as starters.
