Reacting to Heat’s Victory Over the Wizards

Reacting to Heat's victory over the Wizards

It was a weird night. Thirty minutes prior to game time, the Miami Heat learned that Bradley Beal and Russell Westbrook were out. Despite missing their two stars, the undermanned Washington Wizards still put up 71 points in the first half. After a rough defensive first half, Miami picked up their defensive intensity and slowed down the Wizards in the second to win the game. Miami is now 4-4 for the season.

With that said, here are my takeaways from Saturday’s win.

Bam in foul trouble

It was a rough night for Heat all-star Bam Adebayo. Adebayo had a hard time staying on the floor. He picked up three quick fouls in the first quarter. Then in the second period, he picked up his fourth foul after being called for an offensive foul. After picking up his fifth foul in the third quarter, Adebayo returned in the fourth and played the rest of the way.

Adebayo finished with nine points and a season-high 16 rebounds.

Herro leads the way

Tyler Herro was the high point man for the Heat on Saturday night. He looked way more comfortable than he has all season long. Not only did Herro score the ball well, but he did it efficiently. He kept attacking and finished well around the rim. After struggling that past few games, this could be a nice confidence boost for the young guard.

Herro finished with a career-high 31 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

Jimmy flirts with a triple-double

Jimmy Butler had his best all-around game of the season. He was aggressive from the start, particularly around the paint. Butler took advantage of the poor Wizards defense. When the Wizards doubled him, he found the open man. It was a good all-around game for Butler. Butler seems to be getting his rhythm back.

Butler finished with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists.

Next up: The Boston Celtics on Sunday at 7:00 pm ET.
