The Chiefs, looking to start their mission for a three-peat, take on Lamar Jackson and the Ravens at Arrowhead in a Week 1 rematch of the AFC Championship game.
Now that the preseason is in the books, teams and their fans can concentrate on the long, steady run to the postseason. Another year finds the Kansas City Chiefs raising a championship banner. However, the team they beat to get to the Super Bowl, the Baltimore Ravens, is coming to Arrowhead to get a win. Despite Jackson’s view on this game, everyone knows it would be beautiful for the Ravens to pull off a win.
In the AFC Championship, the Ravens barely had 16 rushing attempts against the Chiefs. This season, they have Derrick Henry in the backfield. Despite Jackson and Henry, the Ravens’ offensive line is still not as good as Kansas City’s. Keep in mind that the Chiefs receiving corps had a case of the dropsies last season, but this season is anyone’s guess. They are still a work in progress, especially with Hollywood Brown being out due to injury. Patrick Mahomes and the team have had nothing but great things to say about the improvement they have seen in Rashee Rice.
Both teams want to win for differing reasons. Fans will see the results of changes made in the offseason, so it should be an exciting game to watch.

Betting Odds
Odds courtesy of DraftKings.
Point Spread: KC -3 (-102) | BAL +3 (-118)
Moneyline: KC -155 | BAL +130
Over/Under: KC 47 (-112) | BAL 47 (-108)
The odds favor the Chiefs to win by three and cover the spread. Remember that Mahomes is 36-11 at home, 15-4 in September, and 4-1 over the Ravens. Baltimore is a good team, but last season, when they were three-point underdogs or more, the Ravens had two wins against the spread.
What To Watch For
Watch for both teams’ offenses to come out and attempt to assert their bevy of talent. The combination of Henry and Jackson will be a dual-rushing threat to keep your eye on.
Whichever team’s defense shows up will win this game. We’ll see many different looks from both quarterbacks as Mahomes starts the march towards a three-peat, and Jackson is looking to get payback for the AFC Championship loss.
