It is safe to say that this past season for the Boston Bruins was unexpected with how successful they here, but what was even more unexpected was that captain Zdeno Chara created an Instagram page.
Chara has not been the most active on his Instagram, but with 51 posts since Jan. 11th, he’s gathered a cult following.
Here are the captain’s top five posts on Instagram.
5. Chara’s milkshake

In this post, you’ll see a picture of Chara with his two children all sharing what appears to be a morning shake. Chara goes on to explain he will share with everyone his new diet, shakes, and nutrition.
Could we be seeing a little Tom Brady in the future? Move over TB12, the ZC33 Method is here.
4. What we eat should have a purpose too
https://www.instagram.com/p/Be_xMiNF-hx/
In the post above, Chara mentions how he wanted to share his opinions and thoughts on nutrition, and in this post, he does just that.
The picture features Chara eating food, while in the caption he explains how not only do we as people have a purpose in society, but the food we eat should have a purpose to us as well. There is a Boston Globe article where Chara explains why he decided to switch to a plant-based diet and can be found here if you’re interested.
3. Patrice Bergeron appreciation post

A post all about Bergeron. What more do I have to say?
2. Pigeons
https://www.instagram.com/p/BeVgZ8al141/
Chara seems to have a low profile on his life outside of playing in the NHL, so you probably did not know that the defenseman has a knack for feeding pigeons. That’s right, pigeons. In this Instagram post, Chara provides a short video of one pigeon eating food out of his hand along with a caption about how trust is often misused among people.
1. It’s all about the mindset
https://www.instagram.com/p/BiCJdS1lj3H/
This post and the caption below will be my favorite for a long time, only because the caption could not be truer. Chara posted this around the time of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and his mindset going into them. Each time we overcome any obstacles, we become greater.
It was tough to pick out just five posts of Chara’s, as each post has been a pleasure to read. Just reading any of Chara’s 51 posts will give you some motivation, and I would not be surprised if the blue-liner comes out with a book shortly after retirement.
