After being swept by Baltimore to open the season, the Red Sox have won nine straight games. In that span, the Red Sox offense has been one of the best in baseball. While J.D. Martinez has been in MVP form, Rafael Devers has been just as important. Despite getting off to a slow start, he has taken his game to another level over the past two weeks. As the Red Sox offense has heated up, he has been one of the main contributors.
In eleven games this season, Devers has hit five home runs and driven in 13 runs. The twenty-four-year-old is batting .279 and is tied for the team lead in home runs. He also has the second-most runs batted in on the team. When the Red Sox offense needed a spark, Devers provided one.
Over the Red Sox last six games, Devers has hit five home runs and driven in 12 runs. The former top prospect also had four straight games with a home run. That stretch ended Wednesday in Boston’s first game of their doubleheader against Minnesota. He has shown the impact he can make as the Red Sox bats have seemingly been unstoppable. In Boston’s last two series, Devers has only gone one game without an RBI.

So far this season, Devers has joined special company. He became the third player in franchise history to hit a home run in four consecutive games before turning 25. He has also come through in clutch moments during the Red Sox winning streak. While the season is less than two weeks old, Devers season has already had a few memorable moments. His production has been a key part of the Red Sox longest win streak since 2018 when they won the World Series.
Devers Expectations for the rest of the season
As the Red Sox look to end their postseason drought, Devers bat will be key. He is only two years removed from hitting a career-high .331 and driving in 115 runs. When Devers is at his best, the Red Sox offense is hard to stop as it has been over the past two weeks. Over that stretch, the Dominican native has looked comfortable at the plate and hit the ball hard, seemingly every time he is at-bat.
In Devers fifth major league season, he has been able to limit his strikeouts. In the Red Sox first 12 games, he only has multiple strikeouts in two games. He has also made a few impressive defensive plays of late as his offensive production has raised his confidence. While the season is far from over, Devers has been vital to the Red Sox success.
