Players to Watch in Week 2

With plenty of notable players having good Week 1 performances, who are the stars we should keep our eyes on going forward? Week 2 will see a lot of tight competition and even more spectacular. While the matchups will have plenty of room to spark a debate, these are five players we need to watch this week.

Russell Wilson

One of the most consistent quarterbacks in the National Football League, Wilson had a marvelous start to his 2020 campaign. His 332 passing yards and four touchdowns against the Atlanta Falcons helped his case as one of the best in the league. With second-year wideout DK Metcalf and veteran Tyler Lockett catching passes, Wilson will be a coveted name for years to come. While he faces a tough secondary at home against New England on Sunday, he will still be the key player in Seattle to watch.

Cam Newton

On the other side of that matchup, Cam Newton showed up to play against a weak Miami Dolphins team in Week 1. He showed that he still has plenty in the tank after a foot injury that shelved him for most of 2019. With 155 passing yards, 75 rushing yards, and two touchdowns last week, he can still be such a risk to defenses. While this team still needs to find its groove and mesh together, a tough matchup against the Seahawks should be tough enough to help them click even more.

Christian McCaffrey

This versatile running back continued to add to his outstanding 2019 campaign with 96 rushing yards and two touchdowns to go along with three catches and 38 yards. These might not be his best numbers, but he is still scary even on a decent night. While he will be playing against a tough Buccaneers front-five this week, his elusiveness and speed will surely make it tough for Bruce Arians’s squad.

Emmanuel Sanders

While this is a name that may surprise most, Sanders is in a great spot to prove his worth for the Saints this week. With Michael Thomas sidelined with a hamstring injury, Sanders will definitely play a bigger role in the offense this week. He will rise as the No. 1 receiver until Thomas returns. Drew Brees should be throwing dimes his way against the Falcons this week.

Derrick Henry

Arguably the best running back in the playoffs in 2019, Derrick Henry plowed through the Denver Broncos last week en route to a Monday night football win. His 31 carries and 116 yards has already paced the league, and there will be plenty more where that came from this week against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He is the best weapon on the Titans as his speed, agility, and power makes it difficult to bring him down. He is a bad man with separation.
