Phillip Dorsett Signs with Seahawks

The New England Patriots have lost their two players many players this offseason, including quarterback Tom Brady and kicker Stephen Gostkowski. Now, they have lost another weapon, as wide receiver Phillip Dorsett has signed with the Seattle Seahawks.

The deal with the Seahawks is for one year. Dorsett will be the No. 3 wide receiver behind Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf.

“Seattle felt like the best opportunity to be the player I know I can be as a wide receiver,” Dorsett told ESPN’s Josina Anderson. “I spoke to Russell Wilson on FaceTime while he was working out. Shows you his work ethic. That got me extra excited. I think overall it’s just the right fit for me.”

Dorsett was acquired by the Patriots in a September 2017 trade. He re-signed with them last offseason for a one-year deal. Last season, he had 29 receptions for 397 yards and five touchdowns. In six playoff games with the Patriots, he had eight catches for 126 yards and two touchdowns.

Losing Dorsett isn’t a massive blow for the Patriots. They still have Julian Edelman, Mohamed Sanu, N’Keal Harry, Jakobi Meyers and Damiere Byrd as receivers. Byrd will most likely fill Dorsett’s spot on the roster.
