Patriots Wide Receiver Announces Retirement

After only six seasons Andrew Hawkins has decided to cut ties with the New England Patriots and retire from the National Football League.

An alum of Toledo football, Hawkins made his professional debut in the Canadian football league, playing only two seasons with the Montreal Alouettes before jump starting his NFL career with the Rams. He later moved to the Bengals active roster where he resided from 2011-2013.

Hawkins soon after signed with the Cleveland Browns as a free agent in 2014 where he had the best season of his career. With the surplus of young receivers only growing in the Browns arsenal, Hawkins became the odd man out and was released this past February.

Hawkins is moving on from his days on the field and will look to take his newly received masters degree in sports management to the front offices, in hopes of becoming a general manager.
