Patriots vs. Chiefs: Heavyweight Rematch

Three months ago, the Chiefs and Patriots lit up the Gillette Stadium scoreboard in Foxborough. It was an old fashioned shootout, a game where the battle-tested Tom Brady ousted the young, electric Patrick Mahomes in an instant classic.

Now, the stage has been reset, this time in Kansas City, where the “underdog” New England Patriots will battle the Kansas City Chiefs.

For the eighth straight year, Brady and Belichick are in the AFC championship game — a feat that will likely never be repeated.

The Chiefs have found their savior; Patrick Mahomes, the presumptive MVP and franchise quarterback, something the Chiefs have never had.

When these two teams played back in Week 6, they posted ridiculous offensive statistics. Tom Brady finished with 340 passing yards, one touchdown, and one rushing touchdown.

Mahomes finished with over 350 passing yards and four touchdowns but threw two crucial interceptions that the Patriots capitalized on. Tyreek Hill finished with over 100 yards receiving and three touchdown grabs.

The final score was 43-40, with Stephen Gostkowski booting the game-winning 28-yard chip shot as time expired.

On Sunday night, these two teams will meet again, with much more on the line. Will it be another trip to the Super Bowl for the Patriots, another chance to extend their unbelievable dynasty?

Or will they be dethroned by the young buck and his group of playmakers down in Kansas City?

Part one was written back in October, and part two will sure to be just as electrifying.
