After spending last offseason on Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, and DeAndre Jordan, the Brooklyn Nets have found the leader to help the stars take the next step in Brooklyn. The Brooklyn Nets have announced the hiring of. All-Time great Hall of Fame guard Steve Nash. The deal is expected to go for the next four years.

Nash, 46, is an eight-time All-Star, who played in 18 seasons, and most famously for the Phoenix Suns. He hauled in back-to-back MVP awards in 2005 and 2006. The Canadian-South African last played in the NBA for the Lakers in 2014.

“Steve is one of the smartest basketball minds I’ve ever been around, is beloved by everybody he has ever played with.” – Richard Jefferson on ESPN

This move comes as a big surprise as Nash was never really spoken about as a candidate publicly which is a credit to the way Sean Marks handles business in Brooklyn. It was also never obvious that Steve Nash was interested in coaching. Which tells volumes about the confidence that Brooklyn’s stars and brass feel about his coaching abilities.

Nash will be replacing Jaque Vaughn who took over for Kenny Atkinson after the Nets let go of him.

This move may remind some of when the Golden State Warriors hired a young 48-year-old Steve Kerr in 2014 to be their head coach. The rest is history.

A fun fact about Nash is that Durant and Irving we’re playing at the same time that Nash was ending off his career.

This hire is a very intriguing move by Marks and only time will tell the results.
