Northeastern’s 5-Game Winning Streak Snapped With 84-65 Loss to St. Bonaventure

Northeastern dropped its first game in nearly a month with an 84-65 loss to St. Bonaventure on Wednesday in its final non-conference game of the season.

Matt Mobley’s 3-pointer pushed the Bonnies ahead for the first time, 10-8, at the 15:17 mark of the first half.

From there the two teams would jockey back and forth for the lead, until Mobley connected on another trey with 6:11 remaining in the first half, sparking a 16-7 Bonnies run, and they never looked back.

St. Bonaventure led 44-35 at halftime and went up by as much as 26 the rest of the way.

The Huskies committed 18 turnovers and shot 36.2 percent in the loss.

Northeastern begins CAA play on Saturday, Dec. 30 at 4 p.m. on the road against James Madison (4-9).

More Money, More Problems.

I took a casual poll on whether or not college athletes should be paid or compensated when their respective university uses their image or likeness. The results were not as I expected. Out of about 100 people who responded, 72 of them said that college athletes should not be paid. This sample included people who had played and who were passionate about college athletics, people who were recently out of college and people who have been graduated for a long time. I personally voted that they should be compensated for their image being used for marketing or recruiting and in a way, they are with scholarships. But we all know that scholarships can only help so much.
