Northeastern Roars to 84-66 Win Over Cornell

Northeastern collected an 84-66 win against Cornell on Saturday.

The Huskies, who trailed by as much as four in the first half, used a 10-0 run – capped by a Maxime Boursiquot 3-pointer – to gain a 37-31 edge with 1:18 remaining in the opening frame.

Cornell would fire back with a mini 5-2 run, making it a 39-36 game at the half.

The Big Red would slice their deficit to as little as two in the second half, only to have Northeastern counter with a 14-2 run – spanning 2:13 – to enhance its lead to 58-44 as it cruised the rest of the way.

The Huskies, who shot 56.4 percent from the field, were led by 22 points from Donnell Greshman Jr. and 20 points from Vasa Pusica.

Northeastern looks to extend its winning streak to three games when it hosts Bucknell at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

More Money, More Problems.

I took a casual poll on whether or not college athletes should be paid or compensated when their respective university uses their image or likeness. The results were not as I expected. Out of about 100 people who responded, 72 of them said that college athletes should not be paid. This sample included people who had played and who were passionate about college athletics, people who were recently out of college and people who have been graduated for a long time. I personally voted that they should be compensated for their image being used for marketing or recruiting and in a way, they are with scholarships. But we all know that scholarships can only help so much.
