This evenings’ slate of five games has been trimmed down to three. The ever-improving Chicago Blackhawks travel to Vegas to play the struggling Golden Knights. The Senators visit the New Jersey Devils in a game that has more appeal than it would a few weeks ago as both teams are making small strides to improve. Finally, in what could be the game of the night, the Washington Capitals will square off with divisional rivals, the Philadelphia Flyers. Lace-em’up ladies and gents, time to make some Ice Picks!
CORE MUST-HAVES ⭐
Patrick Kane W CHI $7,200
The Blackhawks have certainly made some very good improvements to their game of late. They are averaging 3.3 goals per contest while giving up 3.0 per contest over their last 6 while maintaining a very respectable 3-1-2 record in the process. The Golden Knights have hit a bump in the road recently as they are just 1-2-2 in their last five games, averaging two goals per game and giving up 3.0 per contest. Kane has been dynamite for the Hawks, 5G, 5A, 17 shots on goal over the course of his last five games.
Taylor Hall W NJ $7,100
New Jersey gets a fairly cushy home game against the Ottawa Senators. The Sens are 3-3 in their last six but continue to allow plenty of goals, 22 over six games, which is actually higher than the season-to-date mark of 3.41 which sits them 24th in the league. Taylor Hall has been snake bitten this year in the goal-scoring department, just two in 16 games, but is still proving his value as he leads the team in points with 15, (and by a large margin) shots on goal-59.
Brady Tkachuk W OTT $6,600
6.6 K is a fair price for Tkachuk, he could easily exceed his value tonight. Both the Senators and Devils are young teams that aren’t as tight defensively as others so there should be plenty of offensive opportunities. Tkachuk has points in four of his last five games. Tkachuk also leads his team in shots on goal for the season with 64 and averages almost 18 minutes of ice per game which is second on the club amongst forwards.
VALUE PLAYS
Dylan Strome C CHI $4,600
Strome isn’t lighting it up by any means with 3G and 9A in 17 games but he gets first dibs on the powerplay and plays alongside the puck handling master Patrick Kane. With the Hawks playing better of late, it’s only a matter of time until Strome really gets things going. Let’s take advantage of the discounted price tag here.
Wayne Simmonds W NJ $4,200
The Devils are a very affordable stack tonight. Players such as Simmonds and Jack Hughes are very viable and are priced in the 4 to 4.5K range. Simmonds averages around 16 minutes per game based on his last five games but is used on the first powerplay unit.
Shea Theodore D VGK $4,200
Both Theodore and fellow D man Nate Schmidt are fine selections. Schmidt’s salary is a bit steeper at 4.9K. Theodore is featured on the top pair on the first powerplay group, he also averages 21.45 minutes of ice per game. His 45 shots on goal on the season lead Vegas defenceman by 16.
