NFL DFS: GPP Plays, Game Stacks, and Dart Throws for Week 13

NFL DFS: GPP Plays, Game Stacks, and Dart Throws for Week 13

After Thanksgiving and scheduling issues, there wasn’t time for two articles last week. Unfortunately, the GPP article was the one that had to suffer. NOT THIS WEEK. We’re back, and I’m hoping that means another opportunity for one of the readers to take down another tournament. There are plenty of different routes and strategies you can deploy this week. Let’s look at some options.

We’ll start by saying that any picks used or mentioned for cash games can be played in tournaments, including the “Other Options.” That’s an important thing to know and can sometimes get confusing when the two are discussed separately. For that reason, I’ve tried to avoid mentioning my cash game plays for this article.

There is merit to using or fading individual players in tournaments, whether it be ownership expectations, bust potential, etc. Just about all of the cash game plays are viable for tournaments. If you’d like to see Cash Game Plays, you can check that out here. With that said, let’s get to some other picks for tournaments. Getting a mixture of popular and lower-owned players is the best way to go. Let’s go for the big bucks. Here are the favorite GPP Plays, Game Stacks, and Dart Throws for Week 13.

Quarterback

Any quarterback that makes sense with your stacks. That sounds like a cop-out answer, but there aren’t many slam dunk options this week. Here are a few of my favorites: Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, Kirk Cousins, Justin Herbert, Ryan Tannehill, Derek Carr, Jared Goff, and Mitchell Trubisky

Running Back

Aaron Jones ($7,200 DK, $8,400 FD)

Jones always has the capability of scoring two or more touchdowns. And while the passing game will be extremely popular, Jones would be the leverage play at lower ownership, especially if we believe the Packers win the game. They could hand the ball to Jones a ton in the second half.

Kenyan Drake ($5,700 DK, $6,600 FD)

Drake finds himself sandwiched in between some very popular value running backs. He’s touched the ball at least 15 times in each of his last three games, including 25 touches in last week’s losing effort against the New England Patriots. Additionally, his targets have gone up, with nine over the last two games. The Rams allow the sixth-fewest DK points per game to opposing running backs. However, simply from a volume and goal-line work standpoint, Drake could be a solid pivot.

Other Options: Alvin Kamara, Miles Sanders, Jonathan Taylor, any Cash Game RB

Wide Receiver

Michael Thomas ($7,000 DK, $7,200 FD)

Is it finally Thomas’ explosion week? I think it could be. Taysom Hill remains an unknown with the limited sample size we’ve seen. However, Thomas has a 47.5 percent target share since Hill has taken over, which leads everyone over the last two weeks. Furthermore, he won’t be ridiculously high owned and caught nine passes for 104 yards in this same matchup against the Atlanta Falcons two weeks ago. Now we need him to find the end zone to smash completely.

A.J. Brown ($7,600 DK, $8,200 FD)/Corey Davis ($5,100 DK, $6,100 FD)

Davis was mentioned in my Cash Game article. I won’t rant too long about him. He should remain low owned and be a good play in tournaments. Brown is a YAC-monster and could be a great contrarian approach now that his salary has reached an outrageous level, nearing $8,000 on DraftKings.

Other Options: D.K. Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, Calvin Ridley, DJ Chark, Denzel Mims, Henry Ruggs III, any Cash Game WR

Tight End

Robert Tonyan ($3,700 DK, $5,900 FD)

Big Bob Tonyan. Aaron Rodgers is starting to trust him and has been looking his way in the red zone. In each of his last two games, he has caught all five passes thrown his way and a touchdown. He could be a solid way to get different from the popular Rodgers to Davante Adams stacks or a solid add-on to build a double stack.

Other Options: Hunter Henry, Dallas Goedert, Austin Hooper, any Cash Game TE

Game Stacks

TEN vs. CLE

ARI vs. LAR

MIN vs. JAX

CHI vs. DET

Dart Throws

QB – Colt McCoy ($4,800 DK, $6,500 FD)

His salary is so dang cheap. Seeking his first win in over six years, McCoy and the New York Giants have an uphill battle, taking on the Seattle Seahawks as 11-point road underdogs. They are expected to lean heavier on the running game, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they have to take some shots downfield to keep pace with the Seahawks. DO NOT load up on McCoy, but he could be a solid large-field tournament option.

WR – Breshad Perriman ($3,900 DK, $5,900 FD)

Perriman continues to get plenty of downfield opportunities and has played 98 percent of the team’s offensive snaps each of the last two weeks. His 15.4 average targeted air yards rank sixth in the league, so if Sam Darnold finds it in himself to bomb it, Perriman could be the beneficiary at lower ownership and a lower salary than Denzel Mims.

TE – Cole Kmet ($2,500 DK, $4,400 FD)

It wouldn’t right of me if I didn’t take a chance with one of the Chicago Bears’ players. Kmet has surpassed Jimmy Graham each of the last two weeks in offensive snaps played and nearly caught a touchdown pass last Sunday night if not for a fumble at the goal line.
