NFL DFS: Cash Game Plays for Week 13 (2021)

DFS

What makes DFS great? It’s a chance to separate from your weekly season-long leagues. More importantly, it’s a chance to make more money! That’s my goal here. I want to provide some good options to help you bring home the bacon. Last week was brutal. That happens. With that said, let’s get back on track and go over some guidelines, followed by the players I’ll be using in Cash Games.

The goal of the cash game article is to outline some of the safer plays while also providing options that will help you create optimal builds. The whole point of it all is to make some money. Sometimes we won’t, but the most important part is putting ourselves in the best position to do so. That goes without saying, but it can sometimes get overshadowed by the results on a week-to-week basis.

People only want to know how many points a guy scored, not necessarily the route they took to get there. DFS is not only a science but a math equation. Let’s dive in, put the pieces together, and try to solve it.

Here are the DFS Cash Game Plays for Week 13.

If you’ve been riding with me all along, you know the drill. There will be a lock emoji next to a few of my favorite options. All the players mentioned in the article are viable for Cash Games, but those with that lock emoji will be fixtures in my main lineup(s).

Quarterback

Gardner Minshew ($4,000 DK, $6,100 FD)

We’ve received an early Christmas present in the form of a mustache. Minshew mania is back! Unfortunately, Minshew is starting because Jalen Hurts is out with an injured ankle. Since being traded for in August, Minshew is in line to make his first start with the Philadelphia Eagles. His price is insanely too cheap to ignore. The New York Jets allow the fourth-most passing yards per game (266.2 yards). Although it’s his first start of the season, this is a plug-and-play spot for me.

Other Options: Tom Brady, Lamar Jackson

Running Back

Jonathan Taylor ($9,200 DK, $10,500 FD) – 🔒

JT is a man playing possessed right now. He’s scored at least one touchdown with at least 97 yards from scrimmage in each of his last nine games. Taylor leads the league with 1,205 rushing yards, and he’s getting more involved in the passing game every week. The Houston Texans are a mess, allowing the second-most rushing yards per game (135.6). I’m not hesitating or stepping in front of the JT train. Lock him in.

Antonio Gibson ($5,700 DK, $6,200 FD) – 🔒

Gibson is finally starting to get the workload and carries many fantasy football players have been pounding the table in favor of. Over Washington’s three-game win streak, Gibson has been a factor. He’s received 72 carries and racked up 270 yards with two touchdowns. That’s only good enough for a 3.75 yards per carry average, but it’s clear Washington is starting to run their offense through Gibson. Helping matters for this matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders, J.D. McKissic has been ruled out due to a concussion suffered in last Monday night’s game against the Seattle Seahawks. Gibby should be featured and ready to smash against a team allowing the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing running backs.

Jamaal Williams ($5,400 DK, $6,500 FD) – 🔒

During his Friday press conference, Detroit Lions’ head coach Dan Campbell announced D’Andre Swift would miss this week’s game against the Minnesota Vikings because of a shoulder injury. It’s hard to replace someone leading your team with 984 yards from scrimmage, but Williams will attempt to fill the void. Unlike many backup running backs, Williams got a ton of work and was used often during his time with the Green Bay Packers. On Thanksgiving, following Swift’s exit, Williams touched the ball 20 times, including five receptions. Expect more of the same here against the Minnesota Vikings.

Other Options: Alexander Mattison, James Conner, David Montgomery, Austin Ekeler

Wide Receiver

Cooper Kupp ($9,000 on DK and FD)

Even at $9,000 on both of the main DFS sites, Kupp is unavoidable. He’s the most targeted wide receiver in the NFL and the No. 1 fantasy wide receiver. There isn’t a reason to get away from him here. The Jacksonville Jaguars are allowing the sixth-most receptions to opposing wide receivers. I’m spending down in other places and paying up for Kupp.

Chris Godwin ($6,600 DK, $7,600 FD)

I want to take advantage of this Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense against the Atlanta Falcons. Because Godwin runs more routes out of the slot and has more targets, he has a higher weekly floor than Mike Evans. The Bucs have the highest implied team total on the slate, and they are 10.5-point favorites. The Falcons rank 29th in defense pass DVOA, so expect Brady to fire away on them.

Other Options: Keenan Allen, Hunter Renfrow, DeVante Parker

Tight End

Foster Moreau ($2,700 DK, $5,000 FD) – 🔒

Injuries always play a massive part in DFS. Anytime a great value option presents itself, you have to jump on it, especially in cash game contests. Stud tight end Darren Waller will not be in action today as he’s dealing with a knee injury. Moreau has seen a share of the Raiders’ red-zone targets over the last couple of years, so it’s not like he’s a random option. He saw five targets during the Thanksgiving game against the Cowboys, and we can expect him to see just as many here with Waller out. Moreau will be extremely popular. Fading him in tournaments is logical. However, why go against the grain when aiming for a high-floor type of lineup?

Other Options: Cole Kmet, Dallas Goedert

Defense/Special Teams

Miami Dolphins ($3,300 DK, $4,000 FD)

Mike Glennon will be stepping in for Daniel Jones (neck) today. Glennon hasn’t played since Week 5 when he threw two interceptions against the Dallas Cowboys. He’s susceptible to throwing them, and he was 0-5 as a starter last year with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Washington Football Team ($2,500 DK, $3,400 FD)

Derek Carr is a solid quarterback, but Washington is finding its groove right now. They are on a three-game winning streak, including a victory over Tom Brady and the Bucs, where they limited him to only 220 passing yards and picked him off twice. Maybe we can strike gold here and use them at their cheap price tag.

Other Options: Arizona Cardinals, Jacksonville Jaguars
