Every week billions of dollars are wagered on the NFL. The most popular type of bet is the spread. Each week there are a few games with an appealing spread and others with an ugly spread. To help bettors figure out which spreads they should bet on and which to avoid, two of our NFL writers, Mike Fanelli and Dale Money, give their take on every spread for each of this weekend’s games.

To recap, last week, Mike finished with a 2-2 record while Dale also finished 2-2. For the year, Mike is 125-137-2 while Dale is 142-120-2. Let’s take a look at their picks for the Conference Championships.

Spreads are provided by Jazz Sportsbook. Please bet responsibly.

The Team to Bet

Mike: San Francisco 49ers +3.5

The 49ers have been one of the hottest teams since mid-November. They have won nine of their past 11 games, including both matchups against the Los Angeles Rams. Furthermore, the 49ers have covered the spread in 80 percent of their games this season as the underdog, including three straight games. The 49ers were 3.5 point underdogs in both regular-season games against the Rams. They won the Week 10 matchup at home 31-10. Then, in a win or miss the playoffs matchup in Week 18, the 49ers pulled out the 27-24 overtime victory over the Rams in Los Angles. After taking down the likely MVP Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers last week, the 49ers have a real chance of pulling off the upset over the Rams this week.

Dale: Los Angeles Rams -3.5

Matthew Stafford has been excellent through these first two playoff games and was not responsible for the late-game collapse against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Rams aren’t likely to crumble for the second week in a row, making the Rams a tempting 3.5 point favorite. Although the 49ers are coming off an impressive win at Lambeau Field, Jimmy Garoppolo wasn’t critical in the victory. Unlike last week, expect the Rams to expose Garoppolo and make his left hell. Stafford and the Rams offense will continue to click this week. Expect them to destroy the 49ers. Keep rolling with the Rams.

The Team to Avoid

Mike: Kansas City Chiefs -7.5

If they play like they did last week, the Chiefs will win this game and the Super Bowl in a few weeks. However, they have struggled to cover the spread this season. When the Chiefs were a touchdown or more favorite this season, they went 5-4 against the spread. Furthermore, they failed to cover the spread against non-playoff teams, including against the New York Giants in Week 8 and Denver Broncos in Week 18. More importantly, when they faced the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 17, the Chiefs were 3.5 point favorites. However, Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase had a historical performance, leading to a 34-31 victory. While the Bengals aren’t likely to win this game, they will keep the Chiefs from covering the 7.5 point spread.

Dale: Cincinnati Bengals +7.5

After beating the No. 1 seed last week, the Bengals have gained quite a bit of attention as they prepare to face the Chiefs this week. While Burrow had a terrific performance against the Chiefs earlier this season, he likely won’t top Josh Allen‘s play from last week. As great as the Bengals have been lately, they don’t stand a chance against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense. Kansas City will have no trouble covering the 7.5 point spread as this game will not be close.
