At this time, the New York Jets have some assets to be excited about. The team is also not perfect. There are some fair questions and concerns to have at certain positions. After two full offseasons though, general manager Joe Douglas has created depth. With the start of training camp now just about two months away, two positions groups offensively and players of those positions will be discussed. They will impact the rookie season of Zach Wilson.

The Jets had to Draft a Right Guard?

False. Four of the five starting offensive line positions are currently filled. Cameron Clark is a second-year player who should have an opportunity to prove he can play. Also, the Jets have Greg Van Roten. Van Roten is an experienced veteran coming off a good year. One offensive line position being up for competition is okay. It would be great if Clark could break out as a young player. If not, Van Roten is capable of getting the job done this season.

Douglas Made a Smart Move Reworking Alex Lewis‘ Contract?

True. Lewis has been good at times over the last two seasons. However, he has been inconsistent. It seemed as if he would be released this offseason. Instead, a pay-cut was agreed to. Lewis will provide competition and depth to the Jets’ offensive line this season. Also in the re-done contract, the Jets were able to get rid of the last year of his contract. This leads to cap space being created for 2022 as he had a large-cap number. This was a fair move for Lewis and the Jets.

There Should be Optimism Regarding Ty Johnson?

True. Johnson has great explosiveness. Last season, he made the most of his opportunities. Johnson has both one-cut ability and speed as a runner. These traits make Johnson a tailor-made fit for the west coast scheme Mike LaFleur will be implementing. Johnson has a similar type of skillset to Raheem Mostert and Matt Breida who have had great success in this offense. It would be great if Johnson could break out in the same way Mostert and Breida have. The excitement surrounding Johnson is understandable.

Do the Jets have to Sign Morgan Moses?

False. Signing Moses would be a great move for the Jets though as he is coming off a good season. However, George Fant had a solid season last year. At this later point in the offseason with Fant, it was a bit of a surprise to see that the Jets had an interest in Moses. Moses would likely be an upgrade over Fant at right tackle. But then, the Jets would have to figure out what to do with Fant. His future status with the team would be unknown. Either way, the Jets should be going into 2021 feeling good about either Fant or Moses at right tackle.
