With limited cap space, the New York Giants kept a low profile throughout free agency. However, they were able to sign a few veterans including Ricky Seals-Jones and Tyrod Taylor. In addition, the Giants added two new offensive linemen in Mark Glowinski and Jon Feliciano. Considering the current offensive line, it wasn’t a surprise to see the Giants cry for help. On the other hand, the Giants relinquished several players due to free agency. Varying from Logan Ryan to Evan Engram and Lorenzo Carter, the Giants don’t have the capacity to reinstate each free agent.

Round 1, Pick 5: Ikem Ekwonu, OT, North Carolina State
While the additions of Glowinski and Feliciano seem to be the solution to the scrappy offensive line, the Giants could still use some help. Ekwonu is highly apprehended and could be a major factor in the NFL. A top prospect in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Giants should keep their eyes out for Ekwonu. A 6’4″ frame, weighing in at 310 lbs, the Charlotte native has a top of upside to his game. A 7’0″ wingspan paired with his athletic abilities, grants the knack to eliminate any defender in sight.

Round 1, Pick 7: Kayvon Thibodeaux, EDGE, Oregon
After Leonard Williams‘ 6.5 sack season, the Giants may be reluctant to draft a defensive end. Although, with Thibodeaux at the top of the draft board, the Giants shouldn’t blink before drafting the 21-year-old. With a 6’4″ frame along with lighting quick instincts, Thibodeaux has no issue retrieving the quarterback. Nevertheless, Thibodeaux is an elite edge with a ton of potential which can ultimately forge a top-notch defensive end

Round 2, Pick 36: Lewis Cine, S, Georgia
After the cleanse of Ryan and Jabrill Peppers, the Giants are in search of a new safety. With an early second-round pick, Cine seems to be a considerable option. After spending three years at Georgia, Cine is prepared for the next level. Standing at 6’2″, Cine brings a ton to the table. A distinguished route defender, Cine is quick to the ball and can pick up almost any opponent.

Round 3, Pick 67: Trey McBride, TE, Colorado
While Engram relocates to the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Giants struck a deal with Seals-Jones. However, Seals-Jones could use some support and McBride is a perfect match. A tight end out of Colorado State, the 22-year-old can deal a ton of damage. A 6’3″ frame displays solid hands, on top of an exceptional route runner. The Giants should take McBride into consideration and aspire to his availability when the time comes.

Round 3, Pick 81: Breece Hall, RB, Iowa State
With an injury-prone Saquon Barkley, the Giants should shop for some depth in the ground game. Taking a glance at this year’s running back draft class, Hall finds himself towards the top. Standing at 5’11”, Hall emulates a high IQ running back, with the addition of firm hands as a wideout. If Hall is available when round three comes around, the Giants are bound to draft the young running back.

Round 4, Pick 112: Mykael Wright, CB, Oregon
Wright, a cornerback who shared the field with top draft prospect Thibodeaux, conveys a resilient approach to the game. Standing a 5’10”, Wright plays well in a zone and can track down almost any ball insight. However, Wright doesn’t convey too much speed yet can contend with his opponents. While not a top-notch cornerback in the draft, Wright depicts a young talent ambitious to excel on and off the turf.
Round 5, Pick 147: Bo Melton, WR, Rutgers
With inconsistency at the receiver position, the Giants should consider reshaping their offense. Melton, a receiver out of Rutgers can be an option to turn to. He has exceptional speed and is a major threat in the open field. Melton presented a 4.34 in the 40-yard-dash ultimately proving his speed without the ball. If still available, the Giants’ front office shouldn’t second guess drafting the young speedster.
Round 5, Pick 173: Mike Rose, LB, Iowa State
Rose is a well-grounded defender with a ton of talent under his belt. He works well in zone and man coverage and is quick to attain his designated zone. While the Giants have an extraordinary group of linebackers, the Giants could use some support. Nevertheless, Rose aspires to excel at the next level and will most likely be a late-round selection.
Round 6, Pick 182, Lecitus Smith, iOL, Virginia Tech
Coming out of Virginia Tech, Smith takes an aggressive and tacky approach to his game. Smith conveys great strength paired with his upside to protect the run game. However, Smith suffered a major setback in the 2021 season, sidelining him for the last two games. Nevertheless, Smith is an elite linebacker who can eliminate any contending defender. The Giants should take Smith into consideration and hope for his availability.
