NCAA Sends Notice of Allegation to Louisville Following Numerous Violations

The NCAA has sent a notice of allegation to Louisville’s men’s basketball program for committing a Level One violation and three Level Two violations, including an allegation regarding former Louisville coach Rick Pitino’s failure to monitor.

The Cardinals have confirmed their involvement with the case tied to the recruitment of former Cardinal Brian Bowen II, which lead to the resignation of Pitino and former athletic director Tom Jurich.

Louisville is now the second program to have received a notice of allegation from the NCAA coming from the FBI investigation into college basketball programs. South Carolina, Oklahoma State, Kansas, and NC State also received accusations of Level I violations. USC and TCU did not release the notices of allegations their programs were facing.

Vince Tyra, the athletic director at Louisville, feels that there has been much work correcting the wrong, although there may be people questioning if Louisville should still receive a heavy punishment for their past wrongdoings.

Tyra stated, “I’m happy to get this started; it means there’s light at the end of the tunnel.”

Louisville has 90 days to make a statement. The NCAA has two months to respond before a final ruling is held. The NCAA will act as a judge and jury in the case.
