First off, I would like to wish Ryan Newman a speedy recovery and I hope to see him at the track as soon as possible. This week the NASCAR Xfinity Series heads to Las Vegas for the Boyd Gaming 300. Just like the Daytona 500, the Boyd Gaming 300 does not look good weather-wise. Most likely qualifying will get rained out so the field will be set by points. I’ll be giving you the driver I think will dominate the race, a couple of contenders, and an underdog that will surprise people with a strong run.
Dominator
Noah Gragson ($9,900 DK)
Gragson is coming off a win last week in Daytona. He will be starting up front in this race if the field is set by points. With some of the Xfinity Series, top drivers moving to the Cup series Gragson is expected to have a big year. In his last two races at Las Vegas in the Xfinity Series, he finished third and sixth place. Look for Gragson to start up front and lead a lot of laps in this race.
Contender
Daniel Hemric ($10,200 DK)
This is Hemric’s first race of 2020. He will be running a part-time schedule for Jr Motorsports. He got the boot in the Cup series for 2019 Xfinity series champion Tyler Reddick. Hemric is going to have something to prove in 2020. Look for him to get it started early and contend for the race win.
Brandon Jones ($9,300 DK)
Jones is coming off a top-five finish at Daytona. He was driving a beautiful Interstate Batteries paint scheme to honor the recent hall of fame inductee Bobby Labonte. Jones has run very well in Las Vegas in the past. He has four top-ten finishes in six races. Jones will be a guy to look out for in the Championship hunt this season. Look for him to add another top ten to his Las Vegas resume and potentially fight for the win.
Underdog
Myatt Snider ($6,600 DK)
Snider had a very good start to his Xfinity career last week. Snider driving for Richard Childress Racing was able to start on the pole and lead 22 laps. His good week ended quickly when he wrecked on lap 59. Snider will be starting towards the back if qualifying does get rained out. His price is as cheap as your going to get for the equipment he is in. His average finish in the truck series at Las Vegas is 16.33. If he can finish somewhere around there he should accumulate a lot of fantasy points and save you some salary which is hard to find in Xfinity races.
Make sure to keep an eye on qualifying. If it does, in fact, get rained out then that makes these drivers above even better plays. If it does not these drivers will still be good but there may be a couple of drivers that are worth picking. Make sure to check my Twitter for any updates after qualifying.
