MLB World Series Favorites: A Closer Look

With the MLB season in full swing, bookmakers are constantly chopping and changing with teams going through form slumps as well as others who are in red hot form. At the time of writing, however, the LA Dodgers are still the team to beat. This is despite the side losing six of its first eight games that they played in May.

The Top Picks

The Dodgers then went on a winning run that saw them win 14 of their last 19 games. In doing so, the Dodgers positioned themselves nicely, second in the NL West, with San Francisco ahead of them.

Coming in second is the Chicago White Sox. The latest odds have seen the White Sox go from +1400, all the way down to +650 in the space of four weeks and this is the kind of change you should keep on top of with the help of a good MLB betting guide, which can give you the additional assistance when it comes to better understanding the market.

The Underdogs and Underachievers

One of the biggest movers in the league was the Giants who were leading the NL West. The Giants odds went from +8000 in May, down to +3300 at the beginning of this month. Currently, the Giants have the best record in the National League, but in an odd twist, they are only seen as the 14th best team in their odds to win the World Series with six other teams in the National League ahead of them.

One of the teams that saw their odds drop dramatically was the Atlanta Braves. They had top-10 odds to win the title at +1500, however, now that has ballooned out to +2100. Why is this? The team has gone under .500 through the 50 games they have played. If there is anything good about it, it is the fact that in the NL East, only one team has a winning record and that is the New York Mets.

Other teams in the line for the World Series with decent odds are the San Diego Padres (+700), The Yankees (+900), The New York Mets (+950), and the Houston Astros at (+1600).

Lots of Time Left

The MLB season is now working itself out. Teams are positioning themselves, moving out ahead, and distancing themselves from the competition. The Dodgers are undoubtedly favorites at this point according to the action network, winning 25 out of their last 41. Winning 23 and losing 12 at home while barely being above .500 away from home, winning 18 and losing 15. Despite this, they are still the bookmaker’s favorites even with the Giants in better form over the last ten games (7-3) and sitting above Los Angeles in the standings with the Dodgers 2.5 games back.

The American League sees the Chicago White Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays as the top teams in the league. Currently sitting top of the AL Central and AL East respectively.
