From Aug. 25-27, Major League Baseball will have its first ever Players Weekend.
Players who choose to participate will sport a nickname on the back of their jersey for the duration of the three days. Each player will also get a custom patch on their jersey to honor someone instrumental to them.
This follows a similar trend to that of the NBA, which rocked nicknames last season.
Here is a list of the nicknames some Boston Red Sox are expected to go with:

- No. 3 Sandy Leon — NOAH
- No. 12 Brock Holt — BROCK STAR
- No. 13 Hanley Ramirez — EL TRECE
- No. 15 Dustin Pedroia — LASER SHOW

- No. 18 Mitch Moreland — 2 BAGS
- No. 19 Jackie Bradley Jr. — JBJ
- No. 22 Rick Porcello — VEINTDOS

The logic behind this event seems to try to reign in a younger demographic to a game that’s average viewer is 57 years old.
