MLB DFS: Tuesday Throwdown, COL vs. AZ

MLB DFS Showdown

The Major League Baseball season may be in its infancy, but we will not hold back from gambling. Today’s DFS features the Colorado Rockies versus the Arizona Diamondbacks in a DraftKings showdown. First pitch is at 8:40 p.m. EST.

This early in a season, it is hard to draw much as far as who is hot or not. That doesn’t mean in a one-on-one affair you cannot still glean some knowledge or play a few longshots.

All prices are via DraftKings. Please gamble responsibly.

Captain: Asdrubal Cabrera ($13,500)

Arizona kicked off the 2021 season with a notoriously bad offense, but the Diamondbacks infielder could have himself a game. On Opening Day, Cabrera went 2-5 with a dinger and three runs batted in against San Diego in a contest that Yu Darvish started.

The Captain price is always high, but in a game in Colorado it’s best to avoid the starting pitchers for the top slot. If anyone is going to do damage for Arizona, it’s Cabrera. Maybe he won’t put the ball over the fence, but the likelihood of reaching base multiple times is high.

German Marquez ($10,200)

Marquez was able to go four innings but needed 92 pitches to do so in the opener. He gave up six hits and a ridiculous six walks in those four innings against the world champion Dodgers. He did manage to limit the damage to just one run in the start, aided by a baserunning gaffe by Cody Bellinger, which could have made it turn ugly.

The key here, as stated above, is that the Diamondbacks have a terrible offense. This is Marquez’s opportunity to get back on track. Plug him in and look for 6 innings of one-run ball.

C.J. Cron ($7,800)

After missing the majority of 2020 with a kneecap injury, Cron hopes to retake the form he had when he slugged 55 homers over 2018 and 2019. Now he’s playing at Coors Field… that should help.

While he is just 3-14 this season, he has crossed the plate four times. He’ll face Luke Weaver for the first time, but carries a career .775 OPS, which isn’t a shabby gamble for a one-game matchup.

Other Value Lineup Plays

Ryan McMahon ($8,000), Eduardo Escobar ($8,200… he’s due), Raimel Tapia ($7,400)

Best of luck to all. DFS is tough early in the season. Let’s keep moving on the right note.
