MLB DFS: Thursday Do-or-Die

MLB DFS: Thursday Do-or-Die

The New York Yankees and San Diego Padres face elimination tonight. The Padres are down 2-0 to the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Yankees are down 2-1 to the Tampa Bay Rays. Let’s see if we can wade through the uncertainty and make some cash tonight in MLB DFS.

Pitchers

Picking two hurlers is tough this evening. The best route is to take the guys likely to have longer leashes. Dustin May ($9,400) may be allowed to throw 80-90 pitches tonight if he can be effective. The Dodgers are already up 2-0 and could let their young right-hander get through the Padres’ lineup twice.

Ryan Yarbrough ($6,800) could see a second time through the opposing lineup as well. While he has sometimes been used as an opener, he did throw 100 pitches on Sept. 20 against the Baltimore Orioles. He is well-rested as he hasn’t pitched in nearly two weeks. He also gives some decent upside with a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 17/2 over his last 16 innings pitched.

Hitters

Yandy Diaz 3B, Tampa Bay Rays ($3,400)

While he was not in last night’s game, Diaz should start tonight against lefty Jordan Montgomery. Diaz has an excellent eye and his floor is solid. With the likelihood that he gets on base one way or another, he is worth a play in cash games at this price

Gleyber Torres SS, New York Yankees ($3,900)

The price is solid for the Yankees shortstop. Torres has reached base in eight straight games. The power hasn’t been there as expected, yet he is always a threat. Get him in your lineups. He is my home run call tonight.

Giancarlo Stanton OF, New York Yankees ($4,300)

Homering five games in a row will help anyone’s case for being included. He may be a little chalky (high-owned) tonight, but he has been crushing the ball. All you need is one dinger and he pays major dividends. Stanton is locked in and he doesn’t want to go home just yet.

Mookie Betts OF, Los Angeles Dodgers ($5,300)

He may be the most expensive outfielder on the slate, but he is well worth it. Betts is working on a four-game hitting streak and four of his last six hits have been doubles. He is driving the ball and yet has not been this inexpensive since the middle of September. If you are going to spend the money anywhere, spend it on one of the best in the game looking to bring his team to the NLCS.
