MLB DFS: The Day After the Party

MLB DFS the day after: Andrew Heaney

There were plenty of exciting moments yesterday to get the Major League Baseball season started. Now comes the hangover. Don’t worry though. It just means we have all season long to make money. Today’s six-game slate has a lot of values, and you need to find some to be able to afford the big boys. There is no better feeling than having that player who cost $3,000 put up 20 DK points. It could easily be the difference between cashing or not. Let’s take a look at those values and start building our bankroll in MLB DFS…it’s a long season ahead.

***All Prices are DraftKings***

Andrew Heaney $7,600

The former first-round pick has the strikeout upside to put up solid numbers tonight. Since 2018, Heaney has a 19.1 K-BB%. He also likes pitching at the Big A. Last year he had a 2.81 ERA with a 28.6 percent K rate while only allowing two homers in 32 innings. The Chicago White Sox struck out 10 times yesterday to only two walks. Don’t expect their timing to all of sudden get better now against a lefty.

Cristian Javier $6,500

The right-hander was a pleasant surprise for the Houston Astros last season. Now he is starting the second game of the season. He throws strikes and had a solid three-to-one K/BB rate. The Oakland A’s didn’t manage any offense against Zack Greinke yesterday and will likely struggle throughout the season to score runs. Look for Javier to go at least five innings and come out with the win and six Ks.

Ketel Marte 2B/OF $3,300

So Marte goes 4-5 on Opening Day and DK still has him this cheap. Let’s take advantage, people. Not only is the Arizona Diamondbacks’ centerfielder looking to show that 2019 wasn’t a fluke, but he also prefers hitting against southpaws. Last year Marte had a 1.098 OPS versus lefties in 54 PAs. Even for his career, his OPS is .074 higher batting right-handed. Although Blake Snell is a tough assignment, it’s his first start for a new team. Look for Marte to welcome Snell to the NL West right away.

Donovan Solano 2B $3,200

With a couple of hits against lefty Marco Gonzales yesterday, Solano gets to see another southpaw tonight in Yusei Kikuchi. San Francisco’s second baseman has an excellent .343 average and .850 OPS against lefties since donning the Giants jersey in 2019. He bats third in the lineup and his opponent on the mound allows an .863 OPS to right-handed batters. Lock in Solano at this price as a 10-13 point night is achievable.

Stack of the Night

Seattle Mariners – They get to face Johnny Cueto tonight and most of Seattle’s players are very affordable. I like Mitch Haniger at the leadoff spot with a price tag of $3,100 especially, but you could really play around with these prices to mix and match. Here are their prices on DK and if the batting order stays the same as yesterday, this is what it would look like. Stacking value picks with the Mariners could pay big dividends while affording to plug in some big bats or pay up for an ace tonight.

Mitch Haniger $3,100
Ty France $3,800
Kyle Seager $4,700
Evan White $2,700
Taylor Trammell $2,200
Dylan Moore $4,400
