MLB DFS Sunday Slingers and Swingers

MLB DFS Sunday Slingers and Swingers

Welcome back to another edition of MLB DFS. On this fine Sunday afternoon, we have an eight-game slate on DraftKings with plenty of big guns on the bump as well as swinging the stick. There are also a good number of low-priced options. As usual, these are bargains at $4,000 and under which is gold for your DFS lineups if they produce. It also allows you to stack the rest of your lineup with studs.

Before we get to it, I just want to wish a happy birthday to a couple of Hall of Famers. George Brett should have a nice year as he turns 69 today. He was one of the best to man the hot corner. Pitcher turned broadcaster John Smoltz is 55 today. He had a nice career, finishing with 69 rWAR over his 21-year career.

Be sure to check us out daily for our DFS content.

On the Mound

Carlos Carrasco vs. Seattle Mariners ($8,000)

Cookie has been brilliant aside from the one blowup against the St. Louis Cardinals. In his five starts, other than that game, Carrasco has a 1.36 ERA and a 30/4 K/BB rate. He has also averaged 24 DK Points in DFS in those five outings. The Mariners’ offense has quieted down a bit in May. In 13 games, they have scored fewer than three runs nine times. Seattle has also averaged 2.77 runs per game and been shut out three times in that span.

Tarik Skubal vs. Baltimore Orioles ($6,000)

This price seems very low so let’s take advantage of it. Skubal has been solid this season with a 2.94 ERA and a 34/6 K/BB rate over 33.2 innings. With good control and excellent stuff, the lefty should be able to shut down a weak Baltimore lineup. Only Skubal’s own team scores fewer runs per game than the Orioles. The Birds are also one of seven teams in the majors to strikeout more than 300 times so far and they also are in the bottom third in walks and OPS.

On the Dirt

Yuli Gurriel, 1B ($3,900)

The 37-year-old has gotten hot lately as Houston hit the road. Gurriel is 7-for-17 with a couple of doubles, and he swatted his first home run on Friday night. Patrick Corbin, who has been better lately as well, he is walking more batters than ever at 10.9 percent. Gurriel bats in the middle third of the lineup, get him in a mini-stack if you can with Alex Bregman and/or Kyle Tucker.

Michael Chavis, 1B/2B ($3,600)

Chavis has been one of the bright spots for the Pittsburgh Pirates, especially in front of the home crowd. He has an .890 OPS at PNC. He gets to face young phenom Hunter Greene who has been getting lit up as he lights up the radar guns. Greene has allowed a whopping 11 homers in just 26 innings. His ERA is 7.62 and his WHIP is 1.808.

Andres Gimenez, SS ($3,300)

Gimenez is starting to turn into the player the Guardians hoped he would become when they traded away Carrasco and Francisco Lindor two years ago. The 23-year-old has put up double-digit DK points in DFS in six of his last 11 games. His opponent, Joe Ryan, has struggled his last two starts. In 8.2 innings, the Minnesota right-hander has allowed six runs and walked six while striking out just six.

Other Options: Mike Moustakas, 3B ($3,600), Gio Urshela, 3B ($3,200)

On the Grass

Jesse Winker ($3,400)

Although he has been struggling a bit this season, he still walks a ton. Winker also has a current six-game hitting streak. He generally hits right-handers extremely well with a .927 OPS against them in his career. With just a .240 BABIP this season, Winker may be in the midst of coming out of his slump.

Aaron Hicks ($2,900)

I know he has a tough matchup against Michael Kopech today, but this could be a sneaky play. The White Sox right-hander has limited hits but has walked 11.4 percent of the batters he has faced. We all know Hicks knows how to take a base with his .359 OBP. If the Yankees bat the switch-hitter at the top of the lineup today, he could be a steal.

Other Option: Brian Anderson ($3,600)

Good Luck with all of your DFS lineups.
