MLB DFS September 14: NL West Showdown

MLB DFS September 14: Dinelson Lamet

Let’s switch it up this Monday with under two weeks left in the season. Time to take a dive into the DraftKings Showdown for the Los Angeles Dodgers versus the San Diego Padres.

We will pick a Captain and five other players; keep in mind that all of your players cannot be from the same team. The Captain scores 1.5 times his points but is also 1.5 times his normal salary.

Captain

Dinelson Lamet costs $16,200 in this spot, but he is worth it the way he has pitched. He is yet to surrender more than three earned runs during any outing. Lamet faced this Dodgers lineup once back on August 4, in which he surrendered one earned run on two hits and two walks while striking out two over 5 2/3 innings. In his last start, Lamet went 7 2/3 shutout innings while striking out 11 and throwing 111 pitches.

Lineup Options

With the expensive Captain in Lamet, we have to look at some cheaper options for the hitting side of things. A pay up option to go with is Fernando Tatis Jr. ($9,200) who hasn’t been hitting too well over the last week, but he has hit well this season and at home. Joc Pederson ($5,400) is a solid cheap option in the bottom third of the Dodgers lineup. He has hit two homers against Lamet in four at-bats this season. That leaves room for AJ Pollock at $7,000, who hit a homer yesterday against the Astros, Jake Cronenworth ($6,600) who is having a great rookie campaign, and Juricksan Profar ($5,600) who had a great day yesterday in the Padres’ doubleheader (3-for-4, two RBIs, R, SB, BB).

If you want to a different route, you could also put Trent Grisham ($8,400) in for Tatis Jr. and pay up for Will Smith ($7,400) in place of Cronenworth. That would put you leaning more towards a Dodgers’ stack with Smith, Pollock, and Pederson.

Definitely mix it up a bit and you could go with a bat as your captain, such as Tatis Jr. ($13,800), so you can play around with more options for utility.
