With a light five-game slate tonight on DraftKings, we need a little wiggle room. While there aren’t a ton of cheap options, there are a few that can save salary. As usual, these are pitchers at $8,000 and under along with hitting bargains at $4,000 and under which is gold for your DFS lineups if they produce. It also allows you to stack the rest of your lineup with studs. Let’s get to it.
But first, a happy 71st birthday to Cobra, Dave Parker. He was an MVP in 1978 and was a top-3 finisher three other times in his career. He also won three Gold Gloves and two World Series rings.

On the Mound
Shohei Ohtani vs. Boston Red Sox ($8,100)
Just a touch over my usual price for bargains, but the slate demands it. Ohtani hasn’t looked great in his last two starts, but that doesn’t mean the stuff isn’t there. Just over a month ago he shut down these same Red Sox for seven innings allowing no walks and striking out 11. These two teams are going in opposite directions as Boston has won seven in a row while the Angels have lost 14 straight. Even if he doesn’t win, Ohtani should give you solid points.
Konnor Pilkington vs. Oakland Athletics ($7,100)
If you want to go really cheap, here is your guy. Pilkington has just three starts under his belt this year, but he has struck out 18 over those 12 innings. He made it through five for the first time last time he took the hill. The A’s are one of the worst hitting teams in the majors. Let’s pick on them if we can get good value like the Cleveland lefty is tonight.
On the Dirt
Ryan Mountcastle, 1B ($3,100)
This seems extremely cheap for a guy who has averaged 9.3 DK points this month so far. Granted, Mountcastle is away from Camden which hurts him a bit. However, he is facing left-hander Kris Bubic who owns a 9.33 ERA and has surrendered five homers in just 18.1 innings. The Royals’ southpaw has also walked more batters than he has struck out. Take the price here on Mountcastle and stack the rest of your infield.
On the Grass
Andrew Benintendi ($3,500)
If you have seen some of my previous DFS articles, you know I’m a fan of Benny. He is a consistently good hitter with a solid floor and is a gold mine in cash games. While he has hit a slump, he faces right-hander Jordan Lyles tonight. Benintendi enjoys hitting against righties as all of his extra-base hits except one have come off of them this year. Lyles, for his part, is allowing a .297 batting average to opposing batters and that actually jumps to .304 with a .908 OPS against lefties.
Good Luck with all of your DFS lineups.
