We have a nice 10-game slate to start the week tonight. There are six values on this first Monday in May that will be covered. They include a pitcher making his MLB debut and a couple of hitters who have combined for 12 hits over the past two days. Let’s get right to it and win some cash in MLB DFS for Monday.
On the Bump
German Marquez $7,100 vs. San Francisco Giants
This will be Marquez’s seventh start of the season and he will have pitched in just two ballparks. It’s his fifth start at home, and the two starts on the road have come against these same Giants at Oracle Park. While San Fran has some familiarity with the right-hander, Marquez has pitched well in Coors Field. Opponents have a pedestrian .628 OPS against the 26-year-old at home and although Marquez hasn’t been dominant, he has the strikeout upside sitting down 26 in his last 22.2 innings.
Daniel Lynch $4,000 vs. Cleveland Indians
The Indians are an awful offensive team outside of Jose Ramirez. They also just lost Franmil Reyes who has been the second-best hitter on Cleveland. Lynch will be making his major league debut and likely won’t pitch very deep but could make it through five or six depending on his pitch count. The tall lefty gets to start his career in front of the home crowd against a team scoring just under four runs a game. Lynch will pitch well and at his price, he should definitely be played in GPPs.
On the Dirt
Matt Chapman 3B, $4,300
Chappy’s batting average is still a hair under the Mendoza line at .198. However, he has gone 7-for-17 in his last five games with a HR and a double. He faces Steven Matz who, after a great start to the season, has come back to earth. In Matz’s last two starts he’s given up 13 hits and nine ERs in 8.2 innings. The Oakland third baseman should feast tonight and is my home run call.
Dylan Moore 2B, $3,800
Moore looked absolutely lost at the plate on the recent road trip. Seattle returned home and faced the Los Angeles Angels over the weekend. The Mariners’ second baseman was 4-for-11 with a bomb, five RBI, and a couple of stolen bases. Lock him in against Baltimore’s starter Dean Kremer who has an 8.40 ERA and hasn’t made it out of the fifth inning in any of his four starts this season.
On the Grass
Raimel Tapia OF, $4,000
The Rockies’ left fielder is 7-for-11 since the calendar changed to May. He is one of the hottest hitters right now and returns to Coors Field after a seven-game road trip. While 26 of his 31 hits are singles, he does have three HRs (all at home) and three swipes.
Michael Conforto OF, $3,800
Another guy who has started off hot in May is Conforto. He is 5-for-8 with a double, a HR, and five RBI. Although he gets Adam Wainwright who’s had somewhat of a resurgence this year, The Mets’ right fielder is the only one on the roster with a HR off of the Cardinals righty.
Good Luck Everyone.
