MLB DFS August 25: German Marquez

A little something different for tonight’s MLB DFS. DraftKings has two games on their late-night short slate: San Francisco Giants vs Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks vs Colorado Rockies. Let’s roll with a couple of National League West matchups tonight and win some money.

All prices are DraftKings

In Short Slate, you pick one pitcher, two infielders, two outfielders, and two hitters from any position. There is a $50,000 salary cap.

Pitcher

German Marquez is really the only one to trust out of the four pitchers to choose from. Before last game’s debacle against the Houston Astros, Marquez had only given up eight earned runs in 32 innings pitched while striking out 30. He also went at least six innings in his previous four starts. Marquez should get some run support as the Diamondbacks are going with Alex Young on the mound. He has started his last two appearances after beginning the season in the bullpen. The Arizona lefty hasn’t made it out of the fifth inning in either start and the Rockies have faced him before. That is why you should also go with…

A Colorado Stack

Trevor Story and Nolan Arenado are the no-brainers here, but another player to get in your lineups is Raimel Tapia. He is $4,700 tonight and is leading off. He has also been pretty hot. In his last nine games, Tapia is 12-33 with seven walks, only three strikeouts, and also three stolen bases. Batting directly in front of Story, Arenado, and Charlie Blackmon doesn’t hurt. Tapia will return very good value tonight.

Another Bat

Kole Calhoun is $5,100 on the short slate tonight. He may not hit for a great average but in the month of August, he has hit seven HRs along with scoring 15 runs and driving in 17. All eight of his HRs on the season have been against right-handed pitchers. For the price, Calhoun is definitely a good play, especially in GPPs, and in a short slate like this where one HR can be the difference between taking the big cash or not winning at all.

Good luck tonight everyone. Be sure to check out the latest Too Much Pod Tar for some last-minute DFS advice for the 7 p.m. slate
